Asolo was founded in 1975, in the heart of the traditional boot-making area of N.E. Italy. They were actually the first people to build a mountain boot from a combination of leather and textile (Cordura). Shortly after, founder Giancarlo Tanzi then introduced the first boot lined with Gore-Tex – innovations that changed not only the market, but also the entire way of making outdoor footwear. Pretty cool, huh.

In 2025, they will be celebrating 50 years of making this innovative outdoor footwear. Three generations of the Zanatta family are working to ensure that Asolo produce outdoor footwear perfect for every use, from the summit of Everest to your local footpaths.
To mark this celebration, we have a pair of their top-of-the-range hiking boots to give away to two lucky winners. Namely, the Asolo Falcon EVO GV boots.
Mid weight, mid height, with a medium amount of flex and torsion – this is a hiking boot that will tick a lot of boxes for a lot of people. We tested it for our Outdoor 100 on muddy hikes around the hills and rocky trails of Wales and found it to be a solid, all-round performer. More than ideal for both long-distance hiking and more day-to-day hillwalking.
In terms of materials, the upper is made from a mixture of suede leather and a nylon mesh. The result is something that feels flexible and quite thin but without feeling unsupportive or flimsy. A TPU protects the toe while the ankle has comfortable padding right around it. A Gore-tex membrane lines the whole upper, extending right through the tongue for complete wrap-around protection. The laces draw in smoothly and evenly and the metal eyelets seem solid and good quality.
