ISPO, case you’re not familiar with it, is a massive tradeshow in Munich where we see a lot of new gear and meet a lot of interesting people with interesting things to say. Michael Cattanach is one such person; a Scotsman originally from Fife who’s been living out on the east coast of the U.S. for the last nine years helping Polartec develop some pretty nifty outdoor fabric technologies.
Michael, in fact, was one of the people behind the invention of Polartec NeoShell, a hugely impressive waterproof fabric that’s able to offer a few things that other protective fabrics aren’t able to.
We caught up with him at the Polartec stand to hear about the origins of the fabric, the science behind its performance and the benefits it brings.
