Pay attention northern folk, the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival - ShAFF - is back for 2017 complete with its own brand, spanking new trailer above and a heady mix of more than 100 adventure films plus other events including a hill heavy road cycling race taking in seven of Sheff's steepest hills and an international climbing competition.

What, Where And When?

Backed by the nice people at the (still) British Mountaineering Council, ShAFF forms part of the Outdoor City Weekender over 17-19 March. Screenings will take place at the Showroom Cinema in the heart of the city across five separate screens.

The BMC's enhanced involvement is an extension of the body's longstanding support for the event and a shameless attempt to tempt its 82,700 members into sitting still for long enough to watch a film... To be fair though, BMC members get a 15% discount on ticket prices.

What else is happening?

  • 15% ticket discount for BMC members

  • Over 100 of the best adventure and extreme sports films - hand-picked from around the world - on five big screens

  • The BMC Sofa Sessions with Niall Grimes

  • BMC Women in Adventure sessions

  • SMASH After Party in aid of Climbers Against Cancer

  • BMC/ShAFF Industry Hangout supported by the OIA (Outdoor Industry Association)

  • BMC Climb night with headline speaker David Lama

Fans of Mr Grimes will be pleased to know that he'll be interviewing  'a series of mystery guests throughout the weekend' as part of the BMC Sofa Sessions. You'll also able to catch  BMC TV films Hard Rock and The Bothy Project, and learn the latest on the BMC Mend our Mountains campaign which raised £100,000 to help repair our mountain landscapes.
