The Terra, which has made a previous appearance in our Outdoor 100 product guide, has become a bit of a classic for the UK hillwalker. It’s a simple yet tough and reliable design that’s able to stand up to the new kids on the block and teach them a thing or two in terms of how a durable pant should be made.

There are now many iterations of the Terra, covering every activity that you could possibly need a pair of outdoor trousers to do; from warm summer hiking to winter alpine use. These, the Terra Ridge are designed with three-season climbing and scrambling in mind, with the key aspect being the ‘Granite Stretch’ fabric which is built into the knees for durability against coarse rock and also added to the instep to avoid crampons catching/damaging the pants.

The fit is loose but still dynamic and well-articulated, allowing a wide stride and fitting comfortably underneath waterproof overtrousers. Ankle adjustment lets you tighten the pants further around the boots. Features include two zippered hand pockets, two long zipped thigh vents (where the BMC colours are found), a security pocket on the back and an integrated hipbelt.
