Fjällräven Abisko Trekking Tights Pro | Review

Fjällräven’s Abisko Pro Tights would make an excellent addition to your technical summer hiking wardrobe.

Why We Chose The Fjällräven Women’s Abisko Trekking Tights Pro: Abrasion-resistant, stretchy, handy storage solutions

It’s no secret that we like Fjällräven’s Abisko Trekking Tights. In fact we reviewed them for our Outdoor 100 way back in 2019. This year, however, we’ve got our eyes on the Abisko Pro Tights which offer some extra protection for more technical adventures out in the wild.

Who Are The Abisko Trekking Tights Pro For?

If you’re after some incredibly lightweight and stretchy summer hiking bottoms, these might be the ones for you. Having said that, if you’re the kind of person that runs warm, they should also work well on sunny days in spring and autumn. Their slim design additionally means they’ll fit neatly under shell trousers on those unpredictably rainy days out in the British countryside.

Materials and Construction

In true Fjällräven fashion, the Abisko Pros are made from a recycled, fluorocarbon-free polyester (71%). In case you didn’t know, Fjällräven are big on sustainability and support several non-profit organisations with grants each year, including the UK’s very own 2 Minute Foundation. All in all then, two thumbs up in terms of eco credentials.

The remaining materials of the tights include elastane and polyamide, with a matte, opaque finish. It’s also worth noting that the fabric is double-knitted, giving an extra bit of grounding in terms of durability and toughness.

Features

The Abisko Pro Tights primarily consist of that durable and stretchy polyester, however, it’s the abrasion-resistant Cordura that really does it for us. You’ll find this on the seat (the lower part of your bottom) and the knees of the leggings, creating extra protection for rougher, more technical terrains.

“This’ll probably make for a comfier, more cushioned seat during rest stops too.”

The waistband, on the other hand, has a wider fit than the slim fit legs, and includes an adjustable drawcord on the inside for varying waist sizes. There’s also map-sized leg pockets with secure envelope closures that are slightly tilted for easy access.

With both women and men’s options, and sizes ranging from XXS to XXL, these tights should fit anyone with a 24” to a 42” waist. Colour options also include an indigo blue-iron grey, a pomegranate red-iron grey or a black-iron grey. In other words, you’ll have a nice range of classic Fjällräven colours to choose from.
