Filson Rugged Twill Ranger Backpack | Review

Filson's hardy canvas backpack and their establishment of a clever 'Restoration Department'

Filson’s Rugged Twill Ranger isn’t the kind of pack we’d normally review on Outdoors Magic, but we’ve included it for good reason, we reckon.

This might not be technical but it’s an example of a piece of kit that’s properly built to last. That’s all thanks to the tough long-lasting, typically Filson materials here. What’s more, if it does happen to ever wear out or get damaged, that doesn’t have to be the end of it, because you get a handy lifetime warranty on any of Filson’s products.

Then there’s the Restoration Department. If your Filson bag gets so damaged that their own team of craftsmen can’t repair it for you, they’ll take it off your hands and send you a new one. That original item is then completely disassembled and built into a new, totally unique product ready for a new home.

It’s great that plenty of brands are shouting about their new recycled materials and lack of PFCs etc, but still not enough of them, it seems, are doing what Filson are doing, which is making stuff to last. Surely that should be at the forefront of any outdoor brand’s sustainability drive?

There’s more on that, plus a glimpse inside the Restoration Department in this episode of Will’s World.
