Extremities Sirocco Glove | Review

An excellent touchscreen-compatible glove made from the latest Gore-Tex technology

Why We Chose The Extremities Sirocco Glove: Extremely comfortable, touchscreen-compatible, innovative fabric.

To the untrained eye, the Sirocco Gloves by Extremities can seem quite sinister. They’ve got a bit of a sci-fi villain vibe going on, like something Kylo Ren might wear while running amok with his red lightsaber in ‘Episode 8: The Last Jedi’. Dig a little deeper though, and you’ll discover the ideal gloves for your outdoor excursions; packable and protective in equal measure.

Using the latest Gore-Tex technology, Gore-Tex Infinium, these stretch gloves offer full windproof protection but with an impressive amount of breathability as well. Infinium is basically a rehash of Gore’s original Windstopper fabric, but there are definite improvements, particularly in regards to water resistance.

3D shaping gives these a perfect, close fit. Shoutout, in particular, to the gloves’ single-seam construction which decreases the risk of anything niggling and serves as a real lesson in effective minimalism. So nice is the fit on the Sirocco Glove, in fact, it really does feel like putting on a second skin. Once you’ve got them on, you won’t want to take them off; the ultimate example of something ‘fitting like a glove’.

“With its windproof and moisture management characteristics, combining nicely with its aerodynamic shape, the Sirocco has got “chilly mornings running on the trail” written all over them.”

With its windproof and moisture management characteristics, combining nicely with its aerodynamic shape, the Sirocco has got “chilly mornings running on the trail” written all over them (not literally, of course). What’s more, because it’s 2019 and we’re living in the age of the smartphone it’s well worth pointing out that these gloves have a silicone grip palm and touchscreen-compatible zones. Great if you’re all about navigating trails with your phone’s GPS, using apps like Strava to track your runs, or constantly switching music because you just can’t settle on whether you want to listen to the new Foals album or the soundtrack from Hamilton.

Functional and flexible, the Sirocco gloves by Extremities are a great option for high-tempo activities on cold winter days and nights, and they’ll be well up to scratch for those who need a touch of warmth on evenings during the milder months. Due to that sleek fit, we’d also say these will fit the bill as an inner glove under a mitt during those really cold trips up high in winter mountains.
