Eagle Creek Cargo Hauler Rolling Duffel 120L | Review

We take a look at the Eagle Creek Cargo Hauler Rolling Duffel 120L. A step-up from your average duffel bag...

Duffel bags are great. Built for hauling a load of your stuff from point A to point B in the most no-fuss way imaginable, they’re often our go-to choice of bag when we’re doing any sort of travelling.

Chuck your boots in them. Chuck your camera equipment in them. Chuck your clothes in them. Whatever you chuck in them, it’s nice knowing that it’s a bag genre that won’t let you down.

Yes, there’s something extremely reassuring about a durable, well made, duffel bag.

With that in mind, what if we told you that Eagle Creek had taken the already solid concept of a good duffel bag and then improved it significantly by sticking some wheels on it? Would you call us a liar? If you did, you’d be wrong to do so because we’re 100 per cent telling the truth. Introducing Eagle Creek’s Cargo Hauler Rolling Duffel.

As well as the wheels, that provide a super nifty alternative to transporting the bag in backpack mode, this product also has a number of other cool ingredients in it that we think you’ll definitely want to know about.

“If you like duffel bags, you’ll love this one…”

Take, for example, the fact it’s been constructed from cutting-edge Bi-Tech Armor Lite; a water repellent and extra tough fusion of tech that means the bag is abrasion resistant without being heavy. We’ve come across this before in other Eagle Creek products, and it’s always impressed.

It gets better. The Cargo Hauler has bartack reinforcement stitching on all the high stress point areas for maximum durability, a foam-padded bottom to help protect the bag’s content against impact, six heavy-duty lash points for attaching the bag to a roof rack, and sizable zippered end pockets that allow you to separate certain aspects of your gear. How have we not mentioned the space already? At 120-litres, you can get all you need in it for a big trip and probably with a bit of space to spare.

It comes in a variety of different colours, including flame red, fern green, and blue.

Tester’s Verdict

“I was a little sceptical of the durability of this bag… it’s super light, and the fabric seemed a bit thin. However, after going through numerous airline baggage checks, being dragged from the city to the woods to the sea, it doesn’t have a single scuff mark.

“Plenty of room for lots of stuff, and although it’s a bit awkward to pull as a roller bag when it gets heavy, it’s still definitely better than having to carry it. With that said, the backpacks straps are comfortable, and made carrying it over rough terrain completely possible.” – Sarah Rimassa, Outdoor 100 producer.
