Outdoors Magic is now 20 years old – not bad going for any website, let alone one that’s always specialised in outdoor gear reviews. It’s been a good anniversary year as well. By my reckoning we’ve managed to test out more gear than ever before thanks to our projects like the Outdoor 100, the Green Gear Guide, Backcountry Ski Guide and then the monthly group tests that our team of experts have been conducting.
Anyway, the reason I’ve brought that up is because I’m hoping it will show I haven’t just thrown together the list in the video below willy nilly. Everything featured, in my opinion, is top notch. Watch and you’ll hear me use the words ‘gamechanger’ quite a lot and I mean it when I use it. The Therm-a-rest NeoAir Uberlite, for instance, is the lightest inflatable sleeping mat ever made and it’s still comfortable and fairly ‘backpacker-proof’. That’s guaranteed to be in my pack on any of my next multi-day hikes.
You’ll see that I haven’t just gone for high spec items in the list either. There’s a couple of stuff that won’t cost an arm and a leg but will still serve you very, very well I reckon.
It was a pretty tricky list to compile as there are plenty of other items that could have made the cut. I had to be a bit ruthless though. You’ll find those other bits of kit I’d recommend in our Outdoor 100 guide and also in some of the other video reviews we’ve posted on our Youtube channel
