Here’s a breakdown of the main materials, its features, and how it got on during our rigorous Outdoor 100 testing in the Scottish Highlands.
Who Is The Aeroready Five-Panel Cap For
The Aeroready Cap is made for trail running, sunny hikes, and those warmer days when you need to keep your head cool. Its modern and unique design also makes it well-suited to city life as well as country adventures out on the trail.
Materials and Construction
Made from 90% recycled polyester and 10% elastane, this five-panel cap uses Adidas’ Aeoready fabrics to absorb water as quickly as possible. The insert, on the other hand, is made from mesh whilst the adjustable buckle closure is built with a sturdy plastic.
It’s machine washable, though it needs a cold and delicate cycle with mild detergent. You shouldn’t use fabric softener or bleach on it, nor should you tumble dry, iron, or dry clean the cap.
Features
Our heads can get very hot when running in the sun, and overheating is a real risk. Breathability, therefore, is very important in a trail cap. Let’s be honest, it’s also just really annoying having to constantly wipe sweat away from your face when you’re trying to concentrate on the rocks and ridges ahead of you.
The Aeroready cap uses targeted mesh zones to help with this, and you’ll find them on each side of the cap. This provides an easy way for heat to escape from your head whilst also allowing cool air to filter in as you run.
The moisture-wicking headband should help here too, while the adjustable strap should come in handy as your head expands with the heat, or alternatively, if you need a more snug fit on windy days.
The overall fit is very secure, and should conform to most head shapes, whilst the flat, firm brim provides more than adequate protection from the sun. It’s comfy too thanks to the brushed interior with flat-lying seams that reduce the risk of chafing against your head.
With size options ranging from kids to L/XL in adult sizing, there’s varied colour options too, including: almost lime/ acid red, shadowy navy/ black and multicolour/ black/ white.
