“I wore these most days while out on our fortnight-long Outdoor 100 shoot in Snowdonia and I was really impressed by them. I like the fact that the fit is relaxed around the thighs and backside, basically bucking the current trend for figure hugging cuts. Most of the time, I kept the ankle cuffs nice and close around my boots but on the warmer days, I’d loosen these up to create a bit of extra airflow. 

“The water resistance was good enough to see out light rain though in heavy stuff the trousers did eventually saturate. The drying time is good though. With a bit of wind on a warm summer days these should go from saturated to dry within an hour.

“That durability you want from a pair of outdoor trousers is certainly there. It’s not a particularly thick weave but the stretchiness to them does make them very abrasion resistant.

“When I needed to, I could get my waterproof overtrousers over the top of these without feeling squeezed in. I also found I could comfortably wear a thick pair of insulating leggings underneath them too. And on that note, yes, they’re not the warmest of trousers and you’ll need to combine them with other layers for winter use. But they’re perfect for three-season use.”
