Arc’teryx Beta LT Jacket | Review

If the mountains are your playground, the Arc’teryx Beta LT jacket is just as versatile as you

The Arcteryx Beta LT has to be one of the nicest looking lightweight waterproofs on the market. It’s got that minimalist, simplistic, aesthetic which makes you want to hang pictures of it on your wall.

That’s not to say the Beta LT lacks substance behind its super stylish exterior; far from it. In fact, if this jacket was a person it would definitely be one of those really attractive people you meet in bars who, against all odds, also happen to be extremely intelligent and charismatic. All show. All go. There’s so much to love here.

“Versatility is the name of game here with the jacket being a class option for skiers, mountaineers, climbers and hikers.”

The helmet-compatible StormHood on the Beta LT provides full coverage without impeding sight lines. Those of you who’ve known the living hell of wearing jackets which get one and/or both of these things wrong, will be well aware how annoying this can be, so credit to Arc’teryx for getting this feature spot on. The hood can also be easily adjusted with the thoughtfully considered, glove-friendly, custom Cohaesive cord locks. Another win.

Waterproof and windproof, the Arc’teryx Beta LT is brilliant at shielding the wearer from the elements. This is illustrated superbly by the durable water repellent (DWR) finish, which helps to repel water from the fabric surface, and the taped seams which improve all-round weather-proofing. There’s also the presence of highly water resistant WaterTight zips which, although not fully waterproof, will aid you admirably in your bid to keep moisture out.

One of the coolest things about the Beta LT is that it’s an effective all-rounder when it comes to wintery mountain activities. Versatility is the name of game here with the jacket being a class option for skiers, mountaineers, climbers and hikers.

The longer back length, for example, extends coverage and fits comfortably under a harness. While the ergonomic patterning delivers enhanced mobility and comfort. Throw into the mix the gusseted underarms and slim fit, which improves breathability when you’re working hard, and it’s clear you’ve got a jacket ready for any occasion.

This being Arc’teryx it’s fair to say that the Beta LT doesn’t exactly come cheap, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t push the boat out from time to time. When it comes to lightweight jackets, you’d be hard pushed to find a better way of treating yourself.
