Just a quick heads up that Mirror Wall, the new Leo Houlding / Coldhouse Collective cooperation that premiered at this year’s Kendal Mountain Festival is currently available to view online for free on the Berghaus YouTube channel or just down there…
The film tells the story of Houlding and his team’s attempt on Greenland’s Mirror Wall, a striking 1200m face deep in the Arctic. Of course that’s nothing new from Berghaus-sponsored Houlding, he’s a veteran of numerous extreme expeditions, many of them filmed by Alastair Lee.
What makes this a little different is that Houlding has become a father and, since his last major expedition, his friend and climbing companion Sean ‘Stanley’ Leary was killed in a wingsuit proximity flying accident, something that affected Houlding deeply.
The result is a more thoughtful, reflective Houlding, aware both of his own mortality and his responsibility to his own family and questioning what he’s doing.
Anyway, while it lasts, here’s the film – enjoy!
