Teva Terra-Float 2 Universal | Review

A pair of sandals from Teva that you can comfortably wear on the trails

Is there anything nicer on a hot day that putting on your sandals and going for a walk? Maybe you pick up an ice-cream en-route to improve it slightly but essentially what we’re saying is that the sweet relief of feeling the breeze around your toes, when the sun is “El Scorchio”, cannot be beaten. Go on. Prove us wrong. We’ll wait.

The Terra-Float 2 from Teva could be, if you play your cards right/go out and buy a pair, your first-class train ticket to happy feet this summer and in future summers yet to come. This is thanks, in part, to their innovative FloatLite foam construction that helps them to be both super light and supremely comfortable.

“You can take these anywhere.”

Not only are these things a treat for your feet in terms of comfort, they’re also much tougher than you might expect. The Rugged Durabrasion Rubber midsole, for example, delivers great traction and stands up really well to the beatings that go hand in hand (or should be that foot in foot?) with an active life spent outdoors.

These aren’t just your wear-down-the-beach style sandals. You can take these anywhere.

Other aspects of the sandal that highlight the hardy undercurrent running through it includes the water-ready polyester webbing, that copes admirably under the stresses of repeated usage, and the feather light yet surprisingly durable Float Lite outsole.

Available in Black, Coral Sand, Nica Avocado/Coral Sand, Nica Plum Tree or Plum Tree (what’s with the plum obsession Teva?), we reckon you’ll really appreciate this sandal’s simple, no funny business, aesthetic.

Speaking of “no funny business”, the sheer usability of the easy hook, loop and Velcro closure here gets a big thumbs up from us. There’s none of that faff which comes about when a designer feels the sudden need to show off and, while it might sound old fogey of us to say this, we like that. A good sandal should be simple.

Tester’s Verdict

“A recent Teva convert, I was stoked to try out these shoes. They didn’t disappoint. The footbed is super soft and cushiony, but gave enough support when I decided I wanted to go for a short jog. They dried out quickly after getting wet in the footwell of a boat I was rowing, and are light enough that I’ll happily pack them anytime I might need a pair of durable sandals.” – Sarah Rimassa, Outdoor 100 Senior Production Manager
