Rab Neutrino 600 Sleeping Bag | Review

Sick of washing your sleeping bag after camping trips? You'll love the Rab Neutrino 600's secret weapon

You know how it is. You’ve come back from a camping trip, started unpacking your stuff, and noticed that everything you’ve taken on said camping trip consequently smells really very bad indeed – your sleeping bag in particular. Now, of course, you can wash your sleeping bag post-usage but doing this after every single trip, especially if you’re getting out and about every weekend, is going to use up a lot of water. Something that isn’t exactly eco-friendly.

One solution to this problem is Polygiene’s ‘Stay Fresh’ odour control technology, which features in the Rab Neutrino 600 sleeping bag. The technology works by reducing odour-causing bacteria’s presence on the fabric by more than 99%. It does this with the help of silver salt; a highly effective, naturally-occurring, antimicrobial agent.

In a nutshell, if you want your sleeping bag to feel as fresh at the end of a trip as it did at the start then this product is precisely the thing you need in your outdoor arsenal when you go camping. Oh and, for those people who tend to worry about such things, Polygiene doesn’t interfere with the natural bacteria on your skin.

Putting Polygiene discussions to one side for a second, there are loads of other reasons why we seriously rate this sleeping bag from Rab. It’s lightweight, something we always approve of, without sacrificing its ability to keep you warm when the conditions get really cold, and the high quality, fluorocarbon-free, hydrophobic down developed in partnership with Nikwax will keep you cosy and dry in wet conditions as well.

Rating-wise, it can be slept in comfortably at -8°C, and offers a guaranteed six-hours of survival at bone-chilling temperatures as low as -26°C.

Styled in a ‘mummy taper’ shape, which reduces overall pack size and improves thermal efficiency, the Neutrino 600 also features an internal collar and hood drawcord, an anti-snag zipper webbing tape and a unique, rather funny-sounding, trapezoidal baffle chamber design that eliminates those nasty cold spots which can ruin a night’s sleep.

We really like this sleeping bag. We’re convinced you’ll like it too.
