Hoka Unveil Their New TenNine Trail Shoe | Gear News

Don’t try and drive in them and don’t wear them on any staircases. That’s the official line from French brand Hoka One One on their new TenNine trail shoes.

We probably don’t really need to explain why, do we? The reason should be, well, pretty obvious.

With their huge, cartoon-like heel stack and bright colours, it’s fair to say that Hoka’s shoes have always stood out amongst the crowd, and while many might have thought it would be impossible, they’ve actually now managed to take things up a couple of notches, stretching the sole on their new model right beyond the heel.

The idea is that it allows maximum speed on downhill trails by bringing greater ground contact, stability and a smoother ride to the runner.

Despite the heel height being a whopping 33mm, these come in at a surprisingly light weight of just 360g per shoe, which is around about the average for the category. The offset from heel to toe is a standard 4mm.

Price? Well, like the sole, it’s large. They’re set to retail at $250 when they launch online and in selected stores this week.

According to Hoka One One, the TenNine is the biggest trail running shoe on the market place. Whether that’s a good thing or not, well that remains to be seen. We’ll see if we can get our hands on a pair of these and get a verdict on site as soon as we can.
