Helinox Table One Hard Top | Review

Packable and light, this is the table you didn’t know you needed

Why We Chose The Helinox Table One Hardtop: Compact, stable, light, and easy

The Table One Hardtop is a table designed by camping furniture experts Helinox. As with most Helinox products, it’s engineered with unbelievably lightweight technologies, making it well suited to the rigours of life outdoors.

It’s super lightweight (960g) and very packable and it’s also water and UV-resistant, meaning the fabrics aren’t going to be damaged by constant exposure to the elements.

Who Is the Table One For?

OK not many of us are going to be taking a table and chair set up with us on a backpacking trip but it’s definitely something that’ll come in handy for, say, those BBQs on the beach that start with a hike from the car and finish with a hike back to it. Same goes for fishing trips.

Design

As you can see, the design of the Table One is very minimalist. This allows for a lightweight product, as well as a more stable end-result. With a capacity of 50kg, more than 50 times its weight, you needn’t worry about any overloading.

“The table is easy to assemble, provides a sturdy structure and syncs with the chair nicely.”

Furthermore, with a surface area of 60cm x 40cm, and a table height of 39cm, it won’t make an overly obtrusive addition to the living area of your family size camping tent and it’s the perfect height to accompany a Helinox chair (like the Helinox Chair One, which we all love here at Outdoors Magic).

Its packed length, on the other hand, is 11cm so it can fit nicely inside a backpack, or alternatively, you can use the side loops on its stow sack to attach it to the exterior of your bag.

Materials

The Table One Hard Top has a frame build with strong DAC aluminium alloy poles. This type of aluminium is exceptionally lightweight without compromising on stability. Helinox is the only furniture brand to use these alloy poles (they are proprietary).

The hubs and joining components of the poles are moulded using an intensely strong nylon resin. This allows for a lot of give-and-take, ultimately adding to its high maximum capacity. What’s more, the majority of the moving joining parts on the base incorporate bungee lines which aid a quick and easy set-up.

It’s available in black, tie-dye, or multi-block colour options, and has a durable 5-year warranty.

Tester’s Verdict

James Forrest, outdoor writer and gear expert

“I’ve had a Helinox Chair One for a few years now and it’s definitely the best lightweight, ultra-compact camping chair on the market – I love it. I don’t take it on most of my wild camping adventures, as I can’t really justify the weight, but on overnighters with less hiking I do take it. There’s something joyously indulgent about sitting outside your tent, sipping on a hot chocolate and taking in the mountain scenery. But now I have an addition to the set-up – the Table One. It works in exactly the same way as the chair, with an all-in-one pole snapping into shape almost automatically before the table top is easily fixed atop the structure. The table is easy to assemble, provides a sturdy structure and syncs with the chair nicely. I can now rest my drink, dinner and book on the table, alongside my chair – it’s quirky and, perhaps, a bit over the top, but wild camping has certainly never felt so luxurious.”
