Garmin Fēnix 7 Series and Garmin Epix | Gear News

Described as “re-imagined for ultimate performance and endurance”, the brand new Garmin fenix 7 series has landed – plus the brand new Garmin epix is out now too.

Smartwatch supremo Garmin have today unveiled two new products: the much-anticipated Garmin fēnix 7 Series, and the new generation of the epix, a premium multi-sport smartwatch featuring a bright AMOLED display. Let’s dive straight into the details.

New to the super-popular fēnix family, the 7 Series gives users the choice between touchscreen and buttons, offering a modern smartwatch feel with full control when required. Continuing Garmin’s reputation for best-in-class battery life, the fēnix 7 claims to deliver up to 263 hours of life in max battery mode and up to 41 days in smartwatch mode (with solar). Also new to the fēnix 7 is Garmin’s new ‘Real-Time Stamina’ technology, which allegedly learns from you, giving you a live estimate of how you’re exerting energy during an activity and thus helping you push harder to the finish line. The fēnix 7X also includes a built-in torch, for those occasions when you need a quick access to a hands-free light.

The new epix, on the other hand, is billed as more of an ‘everyday smartwatch’. It has an AMOLED display that can be controlled by both touchscreen and buttons, and – despite being packed with Garmin’s array of activity tracking, mapping, wellness and smart features – still delivers up to 16 days of battery life. The epix also comes with many of the new features found on fēnix 7, including Real-Time Stamina.

“We have been committed to helping athletes pursue their passions since the introduction of the fēnix 10 years ago, and we remain steadfast in our mission to bring innovative tools to the wrists of those it was designed for,” says Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales. “The fēnix 7 Series brings cutting-edge training and multi-sport features to the wrist. With its latest design upgrade, including Garmin’s best-in-class performance metrics and health and wellness tracking, the fēnix 7 Series provides serious athletes with everything they need for peak performance.”

On the new epix release, he adds: “Designed for an active lifestyle, epix is a versatile premium multi-sport wearable with AMOLED display and exceptional battery life, built to deliver essential wellness, training and recovery features right to your fingertips.”

Garmin fēnix 7 Series

The new fēnix 7 series models include fēnix 7S, fēnix 7 and fēnix 7X, with options for standard (non-solar), solar and sapphire solar editions, and three different sizes. The suggested retail prices start at £599.99. This is what Garmin says about the range: “The fēnix 7 Series enhances the reliable 5-button interface with a responsive touch screen, and it adds innovative new training features, multi-band positioning and multi-continent mapping, all integrated in a tough housing with protective button guards and metal-reinforced lugs. And with advanced solar charging for extended battery life, users can enjoy more time for adventure between charges.”

Key new features of note include: a responsive new touchscreen interface for dual utility, improving daily smartwatch interaction and map navigation; a boost to solar harvesting by up to 200% compared to the fēnix 6 Solar; an integrated hands-free quick-access multi-LED flashlight on the fēnix 7X model (the light will match to a runner’s cadence, alternating between white and red with each arm swing so they can see and be seen); the new ‘Visual Race Predictor’ feature, which takes into account running history and overall fitness to provide race estimates and insights; and the Real-Time Stamina tool for monitoring and tracking exertion levels during a run or bike activity.

Packed with Garmin’s full suite of navigation features, the fēnix 7 Series also supports all major satellite systems, and both SkiView and TopoActive maps for your region. You also get access to Garmin’s 24/7 health and wellness tools – everything from heart rate and sleep tracking to your fitness age and stress insights – as well Spotify and Garmin Pay integration.

Garmin epix

Available now, the Garmin epix is offered in several models and colours, with a suggested retail price starting at £799.99. Garmin describe it as “a premium multi-sport smartwatch featuring vibrant AMOLED display and up to 16 days of battery life, with 24/7 health and wellness monitoring, smart features and built-in sports apps— packed in a sophisticated design.”

Crafted with a sapphire lens and titanium bezel, epix is billed as “looking as good in the boardroom as it does in the gym”. And with up to 16 days of battery life, users can rely on the epix around the clock to “keep tabs on sleep and energy levels, help crush a new PB, or train for the next big adventure”. Packed with health monitoring, activity tracking and advanced training features—as well as smart notifications—it “helps athletes make the most of every moment”.
