This might just be the best competition we’ve ever run here at Outdoors Magic. It’s a chance to not only win a potentially life-changing adventure but some top-class equipment to bring on it as well.

Our aim is to find someone to send to take part in this year’s Fjällräven Classic UK in order to write a post-hike report from the adventure for our website. We’ll not only provide the winner of our competition with an entry to the 2022 event in Scotland (which has already sold out) but we’ll also kit them out with big bundle of lovely Fjällräven backpacking kit worth over £850.

About The Fjällräven Classic UK

Joining dozens of other trekkers, the winner will take on a 60km route through the Cairngorms National Park between the 13th and 16th of September. Starting and finishing at Mar Lodge, over the three to four days of hiking they’ll skirt past Càrn a’Mhaim, Ben Macdui and Cairn Lochan before rolling out past the last section of the mountain range, and plunging into Glenmore Forest. At the end, there’ll even be a big old celebration with a traditional ceilidh for all the participants to take part in.

The walk is mostly self-supported and participants will need their own camping equipment (here’s a handy check list on the recommended kit to carry), but there will be checkpoints where hikers can take a break, get some advice from stationed experts, and refuel on dehydrated meals and drinks.

Walking 60km is not easy, but with the right preparation and a positive frame of mind, almost anyone will be able to complete this trek. It’s not about having loads of experience, but more so just a willingness to try. You do, however, need to be comfortable carrying a heavy backpack on consecutive days on stony, undulating terrain.

So, along with entry into the Fjällräven Classic, here’s the kit that’s also part of the competition package. Bear in mind that women’s equivalent kit is also available and that the items may not turn out to be in the colours pictured.
