Alpkit BruKit Cooking System | Review

An all-in-one cooking system that makes dinner under the stars even simpler

Your standard home kitchen is great, don’t get us wrong, but they’re not exactly well-suited to being lugged about in the wilderness for days on end. And while there are plenty of cooking stoves that campers can call upon to replicate at least some of that kitchen experience in the outdoors, we don’t think any of them are as easy to use as the BruKit Cooking System from Alpkit.

The BruKit is an all-in-one cooking system that requires minimal setup straight from the off. It’s perfect for those adventures where you just want to chuck some stuff in a bag, without giving it much thought beforehand, and head off into nature.

This product doesn’t have a birth certificate with a middle name section but if it did we’re absolutely convinced that middle name would be ‘Convenience’.

Everything here, you see, fits neatly into the one pot. And when we say everything, we mean everything. Seriously, you don’t even need to keep the fuel separate as there’s room in the BruKit for a 100g canister. No faff. No fuss. Pure simplicity

“No faff. No fuss. Pure simplicity.”

A closed system, with built-in heat exchanger and windshield, minimises the BruKit’s heat loss in bad weather, speeds up cooking times, and means that your fuel canister will last longer.

Kudos to Alpkit for also including a Piezo ignitor, which makes lighting this thing hassle-free, a neoprene cosy that can be left on during cooking like some sort of wraparound oven glove, and detachable rubberized handles.

The included pan support makes the BruKit compatible with other pans as well; something that’ll float the boat of anyone who loves a bit of versatility from their cooking stove.

Efficient, fast, and simple. The Alpkit BruKit is an outdoor kitchen in a can, that completely does away with the need to painstakingly assemble your cooking system whenever you make a pit stop.

Tester’s Verdict

“Me and my mate Dave had set ourselves the challenge of walking as much of the 100 miles that make up the South Downs Way as we could, over a two day period. Speed, we’d decided, was of the essence. Sure, we’d probably stop for a pint or two when the opportunity presented itself but the main aim was to keep on moving as much as possible and be efficient when we stopped to cook some food.

“The BruKit Cooking System from Alpkit helped us to do precisely this. The time it took to get the all-in-one stove out my bag, onto the East Sussex ground, and ignited felt like it could have occurred in the single blinking of an eye. It also felt like the food we’d brought with us had been heated up moments after the second or third eye blink. Properly rapid, easy-to-use little cooker this one.

“We didn’t finish the South Downs Way in the end but that’s probably got more to do with our fitness levels and a couple of extremely distracting pubs we ventured into en-route.” – Jack Clayton, editor of Mpora.
