Most sleeping mats these days weigh around about 400g. Therm-a-rest’s popular ProLite, for instance, weighs 460g.

Back in the day, that would’ve been considered ultralight, but now that same brand have come along with the NeoAir Uberlite, which at 250g is the lightest inflatable sleeping mat ever made.

After passing this mat around our test team at Outdoors Magic we decided it was worthy of inclusion in our Outdoor 100 2019/20 series, our round-up of the year’s finest outdoor gear. Tester Nic Hardy said: “As a thru-hiker this has been an extremely exciting piece of kit to test. Its packed size and weight are its biggest draw for those wanting to travel light in warm climates. At 250g that’s a fraction of the weight of most other air insulated sleeping mattresses and at 15cm x 9cm I could easily see myself losing it in the bottom of my pack.”
