“The horizon left me feeling totally awestruck. I’ve seen plenty of mountain ranges before, in the Alps, Scotland, Albania, Spain, but I’d never seen such a depth of mountains. Peaks as far as the eye can see. As the sky turned pink, setting behind the inukshuk, Whistler Mountain’s iconic Inuit statue, I looked around at our group who were all smiling with gratitude, and I had to pinch myself that I’d found myself in such a unique, once-in-a-lifetime situation.”
Those are the recollections of our editor Will Renwick following his attendance at Helly Hansen’s Summit Sleepover on Whistler Mountain, an event that offers a rare opportunity to spend the night on one of North America’s most iconic mountains after the lifts have stopped turning and the crowds have gone home.
And the good news? Helly Hansen is bringing the Summit Sleepover back for 2026, and you could be one of just ten lucky winners to experience it for yourself.
Taking place on 15-16 August 2026 at Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia, Canada, the adventure begins with 360 Experience Sightsee tickets before seats for dinner at the Mountain Top Summer Feast. Guests will then embark to climb the steady path to the top of Whistler Mountain for a sunset performance from a local musician. And at the end of the day, there’s the unique opportunity to camp wild on Whistler.
The experience doesn’t end there either. Wake up to sunrise over the Coast Mountains, take part in an optional morning yoga session and, to top it all off, each winner will receive a $500 Helly Hansen gear package to help kit them out for future adventures.
Camping on Whistler Mountain is normally off limits, making the Summit Sleepover an incredibly exclusive experience that very few people ever get to enjoy. And entering couldn’t be easier. The competition closes at 11:59pm PDT on 17 July, with the ten winners contacted directly by Helly Hansen. Winners will need to arrange their own transport to Whistler, provide their own camping equipment, while all food and drink and activities included as part of the Summit Sleepover are covered by Helly Hansen. Participation in each activity is optional for both winners and their chosen guest.
