Long-running Icelandic brand 66°North has just revealed its second clothing collaboration with photographer Chris Burkard. Burkard – in case you didn’t know – is world-renowned both for his outdoor imagery but also for his athleticism. In fact, just last month he placed fourth in the Silk Road Mountain Race, one of the toughest bikepacking races in the world.

Named Ljósufjöll after one of Iceland’s many volcanoes, this new collection is a nine-piece men’s and women’s range that’s purpose-built for exactly those kind of extreme adventures. Made for autumn and winter, Ljósufjöll features muted colourways of browns and earthy tones that combine function with peak to pub wearability.
“We wanted to bridge the Ljósufjöll collection into winter. The goal was simple – build a light and active insulation system head-to-toe that will keep you outdoors for longer when the cold starts to creep in”, says Chris. “By accessing some of the best materials and fabrics on offer, we created something warmer and lighter than I’ve ever used. In Iceland it’s always about fitting in your movement whenever the weather gives you a window. These clothes are built for that window when the lines are blurred, and the season starts to shift.”
