Light My Fire LunchKit BIO | Review

Light My Fire’s LunchKit BIO combines sustainable bioplastics with practical design, making it a reusable lunch solution that fits perfectly into an eco-conscious outdoor lifestyle.

Light My Fire are a Swedish brand known for clever, practical outdoor gear with a strong focus on sustainability.

I’ve been using their LunchKit BIO while surveying routes in the mountains for the walking guidebook I’m working on, and during a recent photoshoot in the Lake District. My verdict? It’s proved really handy. I love its use of bioplastic but I simply like the fact it encourages me to think about reusability rather than disposability. Also, we’ve all accidentally lost a snack wrapper to a sharp gust on the hill at some point, so I think it’s good that this encourages me to unwrap and prepare my food prior to a trip, eliminating that risk.

For these reasons, it makes it into our Greener Gear Guide on Outdoors Magic.

The material it is made from is called Ecozen. This is a biomass-based transparent copolyester derived from European GMO-free corn starch. This BPA-free material offers excellent heat resistance, making it ideal for food containers and utensils. It is a thoughtful alternative to conventional plastics, combining durability with a significantly lower environmental impact.

The set consists of one lidded box containing a small lidded pot, a long lidded cutlery pot and a spork which has a section with a slightly serrated edge to help with light, child-friendly cutting and slicing. There’s also a nifty chopping board which doubles as a plate and strainer – this is super handy for when cooking pasta at camp.

The entire set is lightweight and I have found it very easy to clean (it is dishwasher safe). From my experience, it is tough enough to withstand rugged outdoor use, and I have always been able to rely on it keeping everything where I want it, without spilling out into my backpack.

All in all, the Light My Fire LunchKit BIO blends smart design and sustainable materials, making it a solid choice for anyone wanting practical gear that is kinder to the planet.
