Meet KEEN’s new addition the Feldberg, a suave-looking, European-made hiking boot that comes in either nubuck leather or suede and is designed to be at home both in the hills and on city streets.
Manufactured in KEEN”s European factory, the new boot is named after two peaks in Germany, it says here. Somewhat confusingly, the Feldberg is both ‘a famous hiking destination in the German Black Forest’ and also ‘a popular urban destination on the outskirts of Frankfurt’.
All of which is intended to hint at the new boot’s joint urban and outdoors credentials. It comes in a choice of finishes, either smooth, waterproof nubuck leather or ruffty tuffty suede with both also featuring a waterproof KEEN.DY membrane liner.
Metal lace-eyelets and classic laces are deliberately retro-styled and the boots even come with an additional pair of classic ‘mountain red’ alternatives if you want to go full-on Sound of Music.
The technology however is 100% 21st century with a direct injection PU mid-sole, ‘with integrated TU cushion’ just like the impressive Durand along with a TPU stability shank and high-traction.rubber outsole.
And of course the signature KEEN integrated toe bumper is present and correct up front.
