Mizu V12 Insulated Flask | Review

With a BPA-free 18/8 stainless steel build, the Mizu V12 is one sturdy insulated flask

Why We Chose The Mizu V12 Insulated Flask: BPA-free, durable, recyclable, good capacity

Founded by famous snowboarder Jussi Oksanen, Mizu – which means ‘water’ in Japanese – have been dedicated to outdoor hydration since 2008. The initial idea was to create products that are tailored towards athletes, whilst also aiming to reduce the use of single-use plastic throughout the world. And the Mizu V12 insulated flask does just that.

Made of a recyclable and long-lasting stainless steel, and with a 1.2L capacity, the V12 is one of Mizu’s larger insulated flasks. It’s also one of their more recent flasks, and includes a larger opening than older models, as well as a tougher, more durable build.

Who Is The Mizu V12 For?

At 512g, the Miu V12 isn’t ideal for lightweight backpacking but would better suit less intensive camping holidays with you and your mates. Because of its large size and stainless steel build, it’s also ideal if you’re looking for something that can double up as both a food container and a flask for liquids.

“It’s a great insulator.”

Mizu say that it’s capable of keeping warm items warm for up to 12 hours, and cold items cold for up to 24 hours and from our experience testing this thing, we can vouch for those numbers. It’s a great insulator.

Materials

The V12 is made of a BPA-free 18/8 food grade stainless steel. This means that it’s made from 18% chromium and 8% nickel, the same material found in most commercial kitchens. In this sense, it’s built to ensure no chemicals move from the flask into your food and drinks, unlike with plastic or aluminium for example.

This additionally means the flask is entirely recyclable, though we imagine it’ll be a while until you get to that point – if ever. (All Mizu products have a lifetime warranty should anything go awry.)

Features

With a height of 26cm, and a diameter of 9.1cm, it’s too big for most cup holders, though that’s the trade-off for a larger overall volume. It should still fit neatly in your hiking backpack though, and the twist-off cap with an integrated seal should ensure there’s no spillages too.

The colour options range from a simple stainless steel design to black, white, midnight, army green, sea glass and sand colours.

Tester’s Verdict

Our testing of this product is still underway. We’ll post the verdict here in the coming days.
