Swedish brand Haglöfs and inventors of the fleece Polartec have been allies for decades. They worked together in the 1980s, popularising the original fleece in Scandinavia, before continuing to innovate with subsequent evolutions of the fabric: Power Stretch fleece for flexibility; Thermal Pro performance fleece for the highest warmth-to-weight ratio; Power Shield for the softshell revolution; and fleece made with recycled PET bottles for improved sustainability. And today, in 2021, the partners have come together again with a new FW (fall/winter) collection of mid-layers billed as a “new era” and “something special”.
“Polartec is a perfect partner for us when it comes to covering — from top to bottom — all different levels of activity”, says Paul Cosgrove, global product director at Haglöfs. “We know there’s so much more we can unlock that ultimately pushes the limits of performance. Polartec is helping us achieve that at the very top level. We can guarantee that the products we’ve created for FW 2021 will be of the highest quality, they’ll be sustainable, they’ll deliver durability and more importantly performance comfort. The quality that Polartec delivers, you can’t just get from anywhere else. We trust Polartec to really provide that.”
The new range, which has been “engineered to provide an outstanding level of comfort and warmth in cold conditions”, features three distinct lines: ROC, SNW and Out. The ROC outline is designed for harsh environments where maximum warmth is required; SNW is built for mountain users; and Out is targeted at trekkers. Here are the details of some of the mid-layer products in each line:
