On the Tryfan Downhill Dash race, held last month, 18 year-old Euan Patton broke a 34-year long record for a speed descent of Wales’ famous mountain, going from summit to valley floor in a staggering time of just 7 minutes 21 seconds.
This action-cam footage, uploaded to Youtube by Euan himself, shows the entire white-knuckle run from his own point of view.
While Tryfan is a hugely popular mountain that’s climbed by thousands of hikers every year, even its easiest route is considered a Grade 1 scramble and fatalities tend to occur annually.
When the previous fastest time of 8 minutes for the 600m descent from Tryfan’s 918m summit was set 34 years ago by Mike Blake, the runner broke both of his wrists falling on the way down.
