Top pack brand Osprey has announced a partnership with leading British climber Neil Gresham and has released this video to mark the start of their relationship.
Neil’s been on the UK climbing scene for pretty much as long as we can remember. What marks him out is a fascinating career progression from being a cutting-edge young gun – he made a early repeat ascent of the desperately hard and risky Indian Face in North Wales – through to his current more mindful manifestation where he’s arguably known as much for his coaching skills as for his own climbing.
“We climbers are real perfectionists. It’s all about performance, it’s about getting the last little bit out of what you can do, and that philosophy runs with your equipment.”
In between he’s climbed everything from cutting edge traditional routes through to desperate mixed winter stuff.
Along the way he’s also carved a reputation as a serious deep water soloing specialist and has even put up routes on south coast chalk cliffs. That’s chalk climbing with axes and crampons if you were wondering.
Neil’s drive and thoughtful approach makes him an ideal candidate to work with a brand that sweats the tiny details on all its packs.
“We climbers are real perfectionists,” he says. “It’s all about performance, it’s about getting the last little bit out of what you can do, and that philosophy runs with your equipment.”
