For 2021 Primus has updated its popular Lite Plus (or Lite+ if you prefer) stove, all-in-one personal cooking system featuring an integrated burner and pot. The upgrade includes a “new and improved, more eco-friendly design” with “smart features and innovative burner technology”, according to the Swedish brand. Here’s the full lowdown.
The stove’s hard, anodised aluminium cooking pot has had multiple upgrades and now includes an integrated pouring spout – ideal for pouring boiling water into other cups or freeze-dried food pouches. The pot’s lid has had a sustainable makeover and is now made from 95% bioplastic and its moulded design means it can also be used as a backpacking mug. The G-1000 Eco outer sleeve features a new, cork lining that offers additional insulation and also protects your hands while holding the pot to eat.
The pot’s webbing handle means it doubles as a mug or it can also be unfastened and used as a hanging kit when cooking or boiling water on uneven or boggy terrain. Alternatively, the new Lite Plus also comes with a convenient footrest that’s also made out of bioplastic – perfect for ensuring the camping stove is secure and isn’t going to topple over before you start using it.
Other updates include: a handy, integrated pocket for storing a long spork or spoon; six vibrant new colours (anyone want a peach-pink camping stove?); and a new gas valve with a large control knob. The latter makes it much easier to control the stove’s heat, even with cold hands or while wearing gloves.
