This month, Nikwax launched a brand new gear cleaning treatment called the Stain Scrub. It works in a similar way to stain removal sticks you might have seen in the shops, however, this one’s uniquely engineered for your outdoor gear.

Specifically, it’s built to lift stubborn stains from your waterproof clothing without damaging or removing the waterproof treatment. Think: grass stains, mud streaks, sheep poo (yes, sheep poo), blood and more. I’ve personally sat in sheep poo on more than one occasion… 

Another key difference between the Stain Scrub and your usual stain remover is that it’s made in an environmentally friendly way. Like all Nikwax products, the Stain Scrub is PFAS-free, water based and non-persistent in the environment. The bottle itself is also made from recycled materials and are fully recyclable. It basically works as a pre-wash treatment so you’ll need to target the stained area of your clothing using the built-in brush head, and then wash it with a suitable Nikwax cleaner afterwards (the tech wash from the complete protection kit, for example). No bleach or nasty chemicals needed!
