More on the Android GPS TV3 features
The Memory-Map Android GPS TX3 is more rugged and waterproof than most handheld GPS units as it’s been engineered by Seals Techologies to IP68 and Military 810G standards. A fully featured Android smartphone you can add a PAYG or monthly SIM card from any network or just use the Wifi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Plan routes on your PC with the Memory-Map software included or use the TrailZilla website to plan and share routes online and simply email them to your Android GPS TX3.
Use it as a more flexible, lower cost alternative to a high spec handheld GPS, an outdoor rugged phone and GPS to partner and protect your existing smartphone or as your single combined phone and GPS – it’s a true multi-purpose device.
Memory-Map Android GPS TX3 is pre-loaded with the Memory-Map Android App and available with a choice of Ordnance Survey mapping pre-loaded on SD card or as a ‘base unit’ with blank SD cards to use with your existing Memory-Map products.
Why a GPS mapping android smarthphone?
Most android smartphone’s nowadays are GPS compatible and so if you already have a handset then downloading one of the many GPS mapping apps on to it is probably your best bet. However, if you’re a keen hiker or walker without a smartphone then purchasing one with an inbuilt OS mapping system saves a lot of hassle.
OS mapping apps range from £20-70 depending on how feature-packed the apps are, which can get rather pricey if you consider the costs of the initial handset and the monthly tariff. Then at the very top end of the scale there are the high spec handheld GPS units, e.g. Garmin, which can cost around £400.
There are very few of these android smartphones about that have inbuilt GPS mapping so it could be a fairly cheap starting point for handheld OS mapping.
