Overview
Polartec’s Power Wool is by no means the only merino wool/synthetic hybrid fabric out there – check out Rab’s MeCo and Montane’s Primino for example – but it works differently to those blends. How? In really simple terms the 34% merino wool sits in micro-gridded form on the inside of the fabric, next to the skin for comfort, while the fast wicking and drying 66% Polyester element is on the outside to wick and clear moisture.
In the case of the Mammut Trovat Pro, it’s a medium-weight sort of fabric – as opposed to ‘almost microfleece’ stuff which often gets called ‘expedition weight’ and it’s brilliantly comfortable being super soft both inside and out.
