What’s stopping you from wearing the same pair of socks over and over again? Probably quite a few things we imagine, but we’d bet it’s mainly the whole being-tolerable-to-those-around-you thing.
Imagine a world where that wasn’t an issue; a world where we could chuck our socks in the laundry basket after a run, hike or cycle and then pluck them out again the next day once they’d dried out, a world where we could do that over and over again, a world where we didn’t have to do the god damn-laundry four times a week.
But there could already be a solution to our woes out there, you know. Ever heard of Polygiene? If you’re into your outdoor and running gear, chances are you might already own a product that features it without even realising. Like Gore-Tex, it’s an ingredient brand, so it’s something that’s embedded within, say, the Rab t-shirt that you just bought, or the Montane running pack. The claim is that with this stuff, you can ‘wear more and wash less’.
So, is that really true, and if it is, how?
Over to Will on that. He’s kindly been wearing the same pair of Polygiene treated socks over and over again for the last 10 days. ‘All in the name of science’, he says. Thanks Will.
