Giveaway | Win a Silva Smini Head Torch Worth £50

We've teamed up with outdoor lighting specialists Silva to give you a chance at winning one of two Smini head torches, perfect for trail running, winter hiking and more.

Released just this year, the Smini is SILVA’s lightest head torch to date. It’s designed for runners and outdoor adventurers, and weighs a tiny 53 grams. That’s just slightly over the weight of two AA batteries – very light indeed.

In fact, it picked up a highly prestigious ISPO award just after its release with the judges recognising it for its ‘remarkably light weight’ and ‘eco-conscious material choice’. Pretty impressive stuff.

We’ve teamed up with Swedish brand, SILVA, this month to get you in with a chance at winning one of these pocket-sized warriors. Whether it’s for your daily runs, a multi-day hiking adventure, a last-minute camp-out under the stars, or you just want to gift it to a friend. Simply fill in the form above to enter the draw.

Tested and reviewed earlier this year by our Editor Will, we were left very impressed by the Smini. In terms of features, it has 250 lumens of brightness and a dual beam system with both a long spotlight and a close floodlight. This creates clear vision on those night runs without creating a tunnel effect that obscures your surroundings. The lamp head is actually tiltable up to 90 degrees which also helps to avoid dazzling people around you.

There’s a red light mode too, and a rear safety light with blink mode to help with visibility in the dark. Like most headlamps these days, the Smini is USBC-rechargable and has a lock function to conserve battery life and ensure it doesn’t accidentally turn on while in your pack or jacket pocket. You’ll also find a 4-step battery indicator to avoid any surprises in the middle of the trail.

According to our tests, the full beam lasted 1 hour 22 minutes, the medium mode around 2 hours and 33 minutes, and the low mode lasted roughly 24 hours. Charging the battery, on the other hand, took 3.25 hours to go from empty to full.

There’s also some nice sustainability efforts from Silva here. The headband uses 65% recycled materials, for instance, and the main lamp house and lens are made from the same 100% recycled plastic, making it easier to recycle when it comes to the end of its life.

The modularity also means that you can replace bits and bobs if they happen to break, while Silva have also deliberately assembled the lamp house with screws to make the product easier to take apart when repairs might be required.
