With its variety of pockets, long cut, protective hood and incredible warmth, the Fjällräven Singi Wool Padded Parka, as OM editor Will says in the video below, would make for the perfect jacket for any outdoor photographers. Watch as he tries it out on a journey from the city and up onto the hilltops of the South Downs National Park during a blustery winter’s day.
The Singi features two types of the Fjällräven’s signature G-1000 fabric, a blend of polyester and cotton that can be treated with Greenland Wax for added protection from wind and rain. The majority is a G-1000 Lite Eco and there’s a more hardwearing version in high wear areas like the shoulders and hood.
Then there’s the special insulation…
The Singi Wool Padded Parka weighs 1640g in a size M, so it’s slightly on the heavy side. That being said, this isn’t a jacket that you’re going to stick in your backpack as a ‘just-in-case’ option. It’s the kind that you call upon when the conditions are going to be freezing cold all day long.
The price is £460 which is a fair old whack, but you can at least rest assured that, thanks to its tough materials, it’s a coat that’s going to last you a long, long time.
