Dutch brand Nigor are specialists in tents for tough conditions and the Didis 2 has been one of the leaders of their pack for a couple of years now.
It’s labelled as suitable for three-season use, so it’s not a winter specific tent per se, but its tried and tested tunnel design and multiple pegging points should make it dependable enough for all but the worst of UK conditions. Will, the Outdoor 100 editor, tested it on a snowy night on Stanage Edge in the Peak District, and he can vouch for this.
The flysheet is supported by three arcing poles of different lengths that run across the width of the tent and they’re each colour coded with the pole sleeves to save pitching headaches. The inner and the flysheet can be pitched all-in-one, or there’s potential to remove the inner and camp without it. This is where the full-length footprint that Nigor make would come in very handy – it needs to be purchased separately however.
“Despite the amazing amount of space this tent gives two people, it’s still remarkably light, weighing just 2.5kg”
The Didis 2 is labelled as a two-person tent but it has an extremely generous amount of space. First of all, the sleeping area is wide and long and has plenty of room to sit up in, and then there’s the huge porch as well. It’s so big you could probably squeeze a bike inside it – it’s basically a living room.
In hot conditions one useful thing about the Didis 2 is that its two doors give the potential to open the porch right up to let the breeze in, and their positioning means that if the wind is hitting on one side, you can always open another side to gain sheltered ventilation when you’re cooking.
