A big thumbs up to Berghaus who have landed a second major outdoor industry award for the new lightweight Hyper 100 Jacket, the lightest three-layer waterproof in the world, which is due in the shops in March.
This time the sub-100g jacket which first won gold at the 2016 OutDoor Show has landed a coveted – aren’t they all – golden gong at the current ISPO trade show with awards committee spokesman and Chinese National Climbing Team member Sun Bin commenting:
“It’s the world’s lightest 3-layer waterproof jacket. With clever pattern cutting and details, and being lightweight, comfortable and functional, it is a real innovation!”
Designed By MtnHaus
In common with a lot of Berghaus’s excellent high-end kit – the extraordinary Ramche 2.0 down jacket for example – the Hyper 100 was developed by the crack MtnHaus design team with a focus on detail and functionality.
‘The main advantages over the Hyper Smock and Jacket are that it’s both considerably more breathable and has a much nicer feel when worn against the skin.’
The end result is a three-layer waterproof jacket that weighs, in medium, a genuine 97 grammes, around half the weight of comparable three-layer rivals and only 10 grammes more than the brand’s own ‘world’s lightest waterproof’ Hyper Smock 2.0.
It’s made from a super feathery version of Berghaus’s own-brand 3L Hydroshell® Elite Pro, which means it’s not only incredibly light, it’s also the most breathable waterproof the company has ever made.
