I feel as though Icebreaker need little introduction. The New Zealand based company was founded in 1995, with the aim to utilise the benefits of merino wool to create warm and comfortable base layers.

The crew and leggings are made from 100% merino wool and carry a weight of 200 (hence the name) on icebreakers scale. 200 means it’s a nice and lightweight blend, ideal for snow sports, walking and climbing – just layer underneath, or use on its own as the season and temperature dictate.
Not only is merino a fantastic insulator, but it also has natural odour resistance, meaning that these baselayers will keep trucking on without building up too much of a whiff. Say you’re out on a multi-day hike and are looking to pack as minimal equipment as possible, for example.
The Oasis LS Crew comes with some cleverly offset shoulder seams to prevent pack rub during multi-day trips whilst the leggings uses flat lock seams for the same reason.
