Utilising a three-layer Gore-Tex construction, the Extrem 5000 Jacket is completely waterproof, helped along the way by fully taped seams and a YKK Aquaguard zipper on the front of the jacket. Far from being a lesser known character from the DC universe, Aquaguard zippers are highly water resistant seals that help to keep your entire torso dry, even when the rain is horizontal.
These smart zips also appear on the chest pocket and the two hand pockets, the latter of which have been placed carefully by the folks at Berghaus to remain easily accessible even if you’ve got a backpack or climbing harness on.
