Fjällräven Abisko Shade T-Shirt | Review

Looking for something lightweight and fresh feeling for spring and summer hiking? Fjällräven might just have the answer with their Abisko

Abisko is a small village in Sweden, north of the Arctic Circle. Situated in a national park (of the same name), it’s surrounded by some truly stunning mountains and is an ideal starting place for adventurous day hikes and the like. Abisko is also the name of a product family from everybody’s favourite Swedish outdoor brand Fjällräven.

A new member of the Abisko family, this top is a functional first layer for trekking in warm conditions. It has that cool minimalistic styling you might associate with a graphic designer in Stockholm. We like it. We like it a lot.

“…the moisture-wicking kept up even when the Highlands forced me into a sweat. Simple and solid from Fjällräven

On long days trekking, like the ones you’d get if you were taking part in the Fjällräven Classic for example, this item of clothing wicks away moisture and dries fast. This means you’ll avoid the unpleasant experience of uncomfortably trekking about in a sweat-drenched layer.

Made from a mixture of polyester and a sustainable, highly functional fabric called Tencel, this t-shirt is a great option for those active days in warmer weather.

Wear it on its own, or under a sweater/jacket, and appear supremely Swedish while doing so.

This product comes in a range of three colours: ‘dandelion’, ‘deep blue’, and ‘lagoon’. Retails at £60. Looks boss.

Tester’s Verdict

“There’s no messing around with the Abisko Shade t-shirt. It’s incredibly simple in appearance, it’s comfortable to wear, and the built-in qualities work where they matter. I had a great hike up the hills outside of Kingussie in Scotland in the t-shirt and have no complaints. It was a sunny day but the moisture-wicking kept up even when the Highlands forced me into a sweat. Simple and solid from Fjällräven.” – Stuart Kenny, gear tester.
