Banff Mountain Film Festival UK And Ireland Incoming! | Video

The world's best mountain and adventure films coming right at you fresh from the Banff Mountain Festival!

You know it’s almost Christmas when the annually awesome video trailer for the Banff Mountain Film Festival UK And Ireland appears – and look, purely by coincidence, there it is…

What is it? In a cinematic nutshell, some of the very best films from the recent 2016 Banff Mountain Festival specially selected and edited for your adventurous viewing pleasure. Given that Banff is arguably the best mountain adventure festival in the world, it’s hardly surprising that the tour is consistently excellent.

A condensed-down helping of some of the best mountain films of the past 12 months crammed into a single evening. We love it.

When And Where?

The 2017 tour kicks off in Brighton on 25 January and finishes in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, on 17 May, with nearly 100 screenings at over 50 venues along the way.

It’s the biggest one yet and is, says Tour Director Neil Teasdale, ‘a reflection of the enormous appetite for adventure that UK and Irish audiences have’. Or maybe just a reflection of how bloody miserable our winters are. Or probably a bit of both.

What’s On?

The programmes – there are two of them – have yet to be finalised and will be announced in early January 2017, but we doubt either will disappoint. Both will last approximately 2 1⁄2 hours, with – as ever – free prize giveaways at each screening.

Two headliners you can expect to see are:

FOUR MUMS AND A BOAT

When four middle-aged working British mums announced they wanted to row the Atlantic Ocean, their families thought they had lost their minds. The epic ocean expedition they were about to embark upon, would change their lives forever.

DOING IT SCARED

Eighteen years after a terrible accident left him partially paralyzed, British climber Paul Pritchard returns to the Totem Pole in Tasmania to find out if he has recovered enough to finish the climb.
