Arc’teryx Updates Legendary Alpha SV Jacket For 2016

The Canadian brand's famous mountaineering hardshell gets stronger and lighter.

Arc’teryx has updated its legendary Alpha SV jacket for winter 2016 to become lighter, but also stronger.

The Arc’teryx Alpha SV jacket – stronger, lighter and available in a range of stand out colours.

First appearing in 1998, the Arc’teryx Alpha SV Jacket has always been at the forefront of its category, designed for pretty much all mountain activities from skiing to mountain climbing.

It’s always been a hardshell with a unique combination of durable strength and lightweight, but this winter the new Alpha SV has advanced in all areas.

The Alpha SV is cut specifically for ice climbers

So how is it harder and lighter?

It’s had a complete redesign and textile upgrade, featuring the new N100p-X face fabric laminated to a 3L Gore-Tex Pro – a super light, breathable waterproof material.

So essentially, it’s now 50% more durable than its predecessor, and thanks to design enhancements it’s lighter to boot. Add to that a new new zip pull design for easier usage, the minimal seams for less snagging on the rocks and a typically active fit, it has become even more intelligent but is still as tough as ever.

It’s retailing at a hefty £600, but you get a whole load of product packed into that 475 grams and as with any Arc’teryx product, it oozes class.

The Arc’teryx Alpha SV jacket is designed for full mountain use, from ice climbing to mountaineering.
